Three Surgeons from São Paulo Murdered in Rio

Three doctors dining at an open-air bar in Rio de Janeiro were killed by silent attackers firing from a car.

The victims were orthopedic surgeons from São Paulo. They were in Rio for a conference at the Windsor Hotel.

After the conference, they were enjoying a meal at a beachside bar. Officials confirm 20-plus shots were fired at them on Barra de Tijuca beach.

Brazil’s President, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed sorrow. He offered his condolences to the grieving families.

One victim was the sibling of federal lawmaker Samia Bomfin.

Justice Minister Flávio Dino has taken action. He directed Federal Police to investigate any political motive.
