Chile’s GDP grew by 7.2% during the first quarter of 2022

After a historic GDP rebound of 11.7% in 2021, the largest expansion in four decades, the Chilean economy is showing signs of cooling and is registering inflation unseen since the 1990s.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Chilean economy expanded by 7.2% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year, driven mainly by trade and personal, transport, and business services, the Central Bank reported Wednesday.

"In contrast, the sectors that fell back were mining, agricultural and forestry activities, and fishing," the issuer added in its National Accounts Report.
