Bolsonarist truck drivers close both directions of main road link between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

Via Dutra was closed in both directions by truckers at a point on the road in Barra Mansa, in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, in the early morning of Monday (31). The occurrence was confirmed by the Federal Highway Police (PRF).

Until the last update of this report, the road, which is the main road link between the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, was completely blocked in both directions.

The protest began hours after the confirmation of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT, left) victory over Jair Bolsonaro (PL, right) in the second round of the elections.

There are also blockades in at least six states. See the list:

  • Goiás: at 8am, there were interdictions on BR-060, in Anápolis, and on BR-153, in Itumbiara;
  • Mato Grosso: at 6 am (Brasília time), there were interdictions at seven points on BR-163, a blockade on BR-364 in Cuiabá, and a blockade on BR-070, in Várzea Grande;
  • Pará: at 8:30 am, there was a blockade on BR-163 in the region of Santarém;
  • Paraná: at 7:30 am, there was a roadblock on PR-317 in Maringá;
  • Rio Grande do Sul: at 7:30 am, there were two blockades on ERS-122, two blockades on
  • BR-285, two blockades on BR-116, one blockade on ERS-463, and one blockade on BRs 470, 158 and 153
  • Santa Catarina: at 7:40 am, there were nine blockades on BR-101, three on BR-280, three on BR-470, and one point on BRs 116, 153, and 282;
  • São Paulo: at 8:30 am, there was one blocking point on BR-153 in São José do Rio Preto.

The PRF informed the g1 outlet, around 1:15 am, that some vehicles were being released little by little, but the congestion grew during the early morning.

According to a person who was on the scene and was heard by g1, the bus the witness was on was stopped by truck drivers around 1 am this Monday near Barra Mansa.

The group informed the driver that the blockade would last 72 hours and was a protest in favor of military intervention in Brazil, which goes against the Federal Constitution.
