The minister highlighted that so far this year, more than 36 tons of drugs have been seized in Panama in more than 135 operations.

“The fight against organized crime has been effective; in the last two years, we have achieved record figures regarding drug seizures. These are hard blows to organized crime and the finances of these criminal groups,” added Pino.

Panamanian authorities seized a historic 138.41 tons of drugs in 2022, of which 108.82 tons were cocaine, and captured at least 600 people, of which 402 were Panamanian citizens and the rest foreigners, according to data from the Public Security Ministry.
