Which are the best private hospitals in Argentina?
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Two Argentine private hospitals made it into the top 10 of the regional survey highlighting the best medical centers in the region in 2021.
The ranking, which is carried out every year by América Economía, includes 61 institutions from 11 Latin American countries, including private hospitals, private universities, public universities, and non-public universities. In the top 10, there are only two Argentine institutions and one more in the top 15.

Another fact to consider is that, in the middle of the pandemic, the three Argentine institutions improved their performance in the ranking with respect to the 2020 list.
If analyzed by country, however, Colombia has more medical centers in the first positions of the list with five institutions in the top 10.
This is followed by Argentina and Brazil, with two each. However, the latter country is the home of the best Hospital in the region, the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, also first in the 2020 ranking.
THE BEST HOSPITALS IN ARGENTINA
In third place on the list and improving two positions with respect to last year is the Hospital Italiano.

The advance in the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires is due to its safety and human capital indicators improvement. Above all, its progress in the efficiency dimension compared to the rest of the group, despite the pandemic.
And in position number 9, Austral Hospital also improved its performance by one position. “We are pleased about this improvement in Austral University Hospital’s position. But the real value is not the position in a ranking, but what it reflects, which is the commitment to quality and safety for the patients who choose us every day,” stressed Lucas Niklison, president of Austral University Hospital.
“Moreover, the fact that institutions like ours are recognized and improving their position also means that Argentina’s healthcare is up to the highest international standards and that it is capable of surpassing itself even in such challenging times like the one we are going through,” he added.
To complete the top 15 was the German Hospital, which improved five places with respect to the 2020 ranking. Further down the list is Sanatorio Guëmes in 42nd place.
THE BEST BY SPECIALTY
In this version of the regional ranking, a categorization by specialty was added, and thus, the best 20 hospitals by specialty are presented. The medical sectors are Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Hemato-Oncology, Pediatrics and Gynecology-Obstetrics.
Thus, Hospital Italiano is the first Argentine center in three specialties: Cardiology, Pediatrics, and Gynecology. Austral Hospital leads in Oncology.
WHICH ATTRIBUTES ARE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT
Among the attributes analyzed by the study are capacity, safety, prestige, knowledge management, efficiency, patient experience, and human capital.
