Brazil elections 2022: Voting intentions for the São Paulo state government

The former mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (Workers’ Party – PT), leads the race for the Bandeirantes Palace, the headquarters of the São Paulo state government, indicates an Ipec (former Ibope) survey conducted from August 12 to 14. The PT candidate has 29% of voting intentions in the state.

The former Minister of Infrastructure Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) and the current governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), are technically tied in the second position, with 12% and 9%, respectively. The São Paulo voters who said they would vote blank or null add up to 23%. Those who don’t know are 16%.

The survey heard 1,200 people from August 12 to 14 in 59 cities in São Paulo state. The margin of error is three percentage points higher or lower at a 95% confidence interval.

REJECTION

Ipec also asked voters who they would not vote for at all. Here are the numbers:

  • Haddad (PT): 32%.
  • Tarcisio (Republicans): 12%.
  • Garcia (PSDB): 11%.
  • Altino Júnior (PSTU): 9%.
  • Vinicius Poit (Novo): 8%.
  • Edson Dorta (PCO): 7%.
  • Colombo (PCB): 7%.
  • Carol Vigliar (UP): 6%.
  • Elvis Cezar (PDT): 6%.
  • Would vote for anyone: 5%.
  • Don’t know: 30%.
