RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On May 19, Argentina’s Government announced a 15% increase in the pensions received by more than 7.1 million people, which will be applied next June, official sources informed.
It is the sixth increase granted after the approval of the new retirement mobility law, which establishes quarterly updates in pensions based on a formula determined by the wage index and tax collection.
According to a resolution published in the Official Gazette, with this new increase, the minimum retirement will be ARS 37,524.96 (US$317), while the maximum pension will be ARS 252,507.44.
Last year, pensions in Argentina increased 52.7%, somewhat above the evolution of inflation, which was 50.9% in 2021.
The 15% increase made official on Thursday, the largest since the new law on pension mobility came into force, will also benefit more than 9 million children and adolescents who receive some allowance paid by the State.
