On Thursday (29), Eduardo Paes, Rio’s mayor, had already advised that the public would return to the arenas gradually, in three phases. In the first phase, on September 2, only 50% of the stands could be occupied, again, by people who have been vaccinated and wear masks.
The second stage will allow 100% of Maracanã’s capacity, follow the aforementioned obligations, and start on October 17th.
In the following month, the third and last phase will come into force, and the wearing of masks will no longer be mandatory.
