Oil production in Brazil in April rises 4.6% over March
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Oil production in Brazil in April reached 2.974 million barrels per day, while natural gas production was 131 million cubic meters per day. Compared to March, the volume produced represented a 4.6% increase in oil production and a 4.2% growth in natural gas production.
Total production in the country – adding oil and gas – reached 3.801 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in April.
The data are recorded in the Monthly Bulletin of the Production of Oil and Natural Gas released today by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), released by the agency. The ANP pointed out that, compared to April last year, there was an increase of 0.5% in oil production and 6% in natural gas production.

In April, the pre-salt production reached 2.177 million barrels of oil per day and 92.2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, totaling 2.756 million BOE/day, which meant an increase of 3.8% compared to the previous month and 6.3% compared to the same month in 2020. The pre-salt production came from 122 wells and corresponded to 72.7% of the total produced in Brazil.
The ANP added that in April, the utilization of natural gas was 97.8%, and 53.5 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market, while gas flaring in the month was 2.8 million cubic meters per day, a reduction of 9% compared to the previous month and an increase of 6% compared to the same month in 2020.
