Joy and Dancing to Tackle the Quarantine

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The creativity of the Brazilian people could be greatly reflected by the ballroom dance teacher, Roberto Dias, from Brasília, the country’s capital.

Every day, the teacher offers exciting lessons live on the internet.

The solution came after the crisis caused by Coronavirus, as the dance schools were closed by the local government. Roberto has been making his living from dance for over 20 years. However, with no school, and the ban on gatherings, business could quickly collapse.

However, through cheerfulness, enthusiasm and teaching what he knows best, his classes have become a success. The link to his live streams are being shared by WhatsApp groups and at the scheduled time there are many “raining hearts”, particularly on Instagram. Classes are held daily at 10 AM and 7 PM local time.

His wife Agda Dias, an attorney, also joins in. The classes are broadcast from the couple’s living room. The rhythms are the most varied, from forró, samba, salsa, funk and even the Argentine tango is included. In addition to the warm-up and stretching exercises.

Every ten minutes on average, a break to chat with the students and answer their comments takes place.

With experience in several European and Latin countries as well as in the United States, Roberto Dias assures that if interested foreigners turn up on the timeline, classes can be conducted in three languages: Portuguese, Spanish and English.
