HiRISE on Mars

Hello,

My name is Ari Espinoza, and I work for HiRISE, a high resolution camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) orbiting Mars. Thanks to the help of Prof. Thiago Statella, of Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Mato Grosso, the world of Mars is now offered in Portuguese.

This is the first time an active NASA mission has offered its information in the Portuguese language, and it’s possible thanks to Prof. Statella, who volunteered in our project to translate our captioned images into Portuguese. We have over 1,000 captioned images and his contribution is invaluable to reach people with little to now English skills.

This is an excellent outreach story between the US and Brazil, and should be a point of pride. We hope it will raise awareness of Mars and space sciences in Brazil.
