Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro convicts former Rio mayor Crivella

Marcelo Crivella, former mayor of Rio de Janeiro, was sentenced by the State Electoral Court for abuse of economic power during the 2020 election dispute when he was running for reelection.

The decision is from Judge Márcia Santos Capanema de Souza, from the 23rd Electoral Zone.

The magistrate also requested the removal from office of Crivella, currently a federal deputy.

He will also have to pay a fine of R$150,000. The politician can appeal the decision, handed down last month and released this week.
