Odebrecht wins US$1.168 billion contract to build railroad section in Angola

Odebrecht and Bento Pedroso Construções, a member of the Brazilian group, have won a US$1.168 billion contract to build the Luena-Saurimo section of the Benguela Railway in Angola, according to a presidential decree.

In the decree, the Angolan President authorizes the expenditure of US$1.168 million and formalizes simplified contracting (by direct award) by material criteria for designing and constructing the 260-kilometer section.

In the dispatch, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, justifies the investment with the need to improve rail transport, the volume of goods, and the number of passengers . . .
