Marcelo ws allegedly fired as a result of the disclosure by Folha de S. Paulo of e-mails in which he accuses his father of being to blame for the company’s downfall, which is today under judicial reorganization.

Emílio Odebrecht is the president of Kieppe Participações, the family holding company that controls Odebrecht, while Marcelo is the former president of the contractor and left office in 2015 when he was arrested as part of Operation Lava-Jato.

Marcelo earned R$115,000 (US$28,750) per month and was entitled to a private driver, security guard, press advisor, secretary, and lawyers, although he no longer holds an executive position in the company. He will continue to hold 2.79 percent of Odebrecht’s capital.

The information is that Marcelo and Emílio broke off relations when the son was still serving time in Curitiba for corruption.

In one of the e-mails to which Folha had access, Marcelo accuses his father of having drained Kieppe by purchasing farms valued at R$600 million for himself and having paid with Kieppe shares and not with his own funds.
