Flying bullets hinder Tarcisio’s campaign in one of São Paulo’s largest favelas

The event took place in Paraisópolis, one of São Paulo’s largest municipalities; the candidate, who is close to Jair Bolsonaro, is fine and says he was “targeted by criminals.”

A campaign rally of São Paulo gubernatorial candidate Tarcisio de Freitas (Republican) in Paraisópolis (SP) was interrupted Monday (17) in São Paulo’s capital due to an exchange of gunfire.

The origin of the shooting and the motivation is not yet known. The Secretariat of Public Security of São Paulo told Poder360 that the police are investigating the case.

Tarcisio published on his Twitter profile that he and his team are fine.

The former minister attributed the attack to “criminals” and said that security was reinforced “quickly and with brilliant performance” by the São Paulo Military Police.

He also reported that “a bandit” was shot.

He also reported that “a bandit” was shot dead.

“First of all, we are all doing well. Criminals attacked us during a visit to the 1st University Pole of Paraisópolis.”

“The excellent work of @PMESP quickly reinforced our security team. One bandit was shot dead. We are checking the details of the situation,” he wrote on Twitter.
