Besides, James Marsden (Westworld), Amber Heard (Aquaman) and Odessa Young (The Professor) have been confirmed for the ten episodes of the series’ first season. King is still to write the final episode, giving it a twist that does not exist in the original work.

Zaga will play Nick Andros, a deaf and dumb young man who becomes a leader by accident after a pandemic turns Planet Earth into ruins, while James Marsden will play Stu Redman, Amber Heard will play Nadine Cross and Odessa Young will play Frannie Goldsmith.

The Brazilian actor has worked in the series 13 Reasons Why and Teen Wolf. He is one of the characters in The New Mutants, a Fox film on the X-Men that has not yet been released, and he will also star in the series Looking for Alaska.

The Stand takes place on a planet virtually wiped out by disease and “wrapped in an elemental struggle between good and evil,” according to CBS. “The fate of humanity rests on the fragile shoulders of Mother Abagail, 108 years old, and a handful of survivors.”

“I am excited and very pleased that “The Stand” has a new life on this platform,” King said in a statement. “The people involved are men and women who know exactly what they are doing; the scripts are explosive. The result seems to be something memorable and exciting. I believe it will take spectators into a world they hope will never happen.”

The Stand has not yet been scheduled for release.
