Brazilian CB’s president Campos Neto will be chairman of the board for the Americas at BIS

The president of the Brazilian BC (Central Bank), Roberto Campos Neto, 53 years old, will be appointed president of the CCA (Consultative Council of the Americas) of the BIS (Bank for International Settlements). The mandate lasts for 2 years.

Campos Neto’s command of the board will begin on January 9, 2023. He will succeed John Williams, president of the Fed (Federal Reserve, the central bank of the United States). Campos Neto was chosen by the BIS board of directors. The Advisory Board of the Americas was created in 2008 and is made up of the presidents of the central banks of countries in the region: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, United States, Mexico and Peru.

The headquarters of the BIS are in Basel, Switzerland. One of its attributions is to promote discussions and facilitate collaboration between monetary authorities, according to the Central Bank.

Campos Neto has already been elected the best central banker in Latin America in 2022 by the LatinFinance Banks of the Year Awards and in the world by the British magazine The Banker in 2020.
