Brazil’s Central Bank’s Focus report lower inflation projections again

Brazil’s projections for inflation will continue on a downward trend until 2024, according to the Focus survey released by the Central Bank on Monday, October 17.

Analysts consulted by the Central Bank now see the consumer price index (CPI) highs of 5.62%, 4.97%, and 3.43%, respectively, in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

In the previous survey, estimates were 5.71%, 5.00%, and 3.47%.

The center of the official inflation target for 2022 is 3.5%, and for 2023 it is 3.25%, going to 3.00% in 2024, always with a tolerance margin of 1.5 percentage points more or less.

For the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), growth estimates have improved slightly for this year and the next.

The specialists see an expansion of 2.71% in 2022 and 0.59% in 2023, against rates of 2.70% and 0.54% previously.

The weekly survey of a hundred economists also showed that the basic interest rate should end this year at 13.75% and next year at 11.25%, unchanged.
