Brazil: First Lady Janja is disapproved by 29% of evangelicals, says Quaest

Brazilian First Lady Rosângela da Silva, Janja, has a worse evaluation among evangelicals than Catholics and practitioners of other religions, shows Quaest poll.

Among those who declare themselves Protestants, 29% reject the sociologist, a percentage almost identical to the 30% who approve of her.

Among Catholics, disapproval is only 15%, against 46% who positively assess President Lula’s wife.

The first lady’s approval is 52% among respondents who say they belong to other denominations and 41% among those who declare no religion.

In the general population, 41% say they see the first lady’s performance as positive, 22% believe it is regular, and 19% say it is negative.

In the division by regions, the survey also shows that Janja is better evaluated among people from the Northeast (56% evaluate her performance positively, against 11% negatively), women (46% approve of the first lady, against 36% of men), blacks (43%, against 40% of whites), and those who earn up to two minimum wages (44%).

Among those interviewed who voted for Lula in the second round of the 2022 elections, Janja’s performance was positive for 66%, regular for 19%, and negative for 3%.

Among Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) voters, the rejection rate is 46%, and the approval rate is 12%.

The survey interviewed 2,016 people from last Friday (10) to Monday (13) and has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points more or less.

The survey is financed by the digital investment brokerage Genial Investimentos, controlled by the Genial Bank.

In turn, the margin of error for responses about religion is four percentage points higher or lower.

For the subgroup of women, this margin is three percentage points more or less, and for the Northeast, four points.
