Argentina was the primary outbound market, with 716,548 Argentines entering Uruguay, an increase of 2.6 percent over the same period in 2019, followed by Brazil, with 145,459 arrivals (up 7.1 percent).
Before the pandemic, in 2019, Uruguay reached 3.2 million tourists from abroad, with a contribution of the sector of about eight percentage points to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
