Marília Mendonça Is Brazil’s Most Listened-to Performing Artist in 2020
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Marília Mendonça, 25, topped the rankings of Brazil’s most listened-to artists in 2020. The country singer, known as the ‘queen of suffering,’ tops the lists in the three main platforms that gather music listeners in the country: Spotify, Deezer, and YouTube (the latter also has a ranking of non-musical videos, headed by Fla-Flu in the final of the Carioca soccer championship).
In Spotify, she replicated her 2019 position and came first in the Brazilian ranking of most heard artists once again. The country folk still control the platform’s top 10, holding seven positions (Henrique and Juliano come second, Gusttavo Lima is third, Zé Neto and Cristiano are fourth, Matheus and Kauan are eighth, and Maiara and Maraísa rank tenth).
Only the Barões da Pisadinha, Anitta, and Alok are not part of this genre. They rank sixth, seventh, and ninth, respectively.
Marília also features in the most listened to songs, with “Graveto” in third place, behind “Liberdade Provisória” by Henrique and Juliano, and “A Gente Fez Amor” by Gusttavo Lima.
The album “Todos os Cantos, Vol. 1 (Ao Vivo)” was the fifth most played. In first position was “O Embaixador in Cariri (Ao Vivo)”, by Gusttavo Lima, followed by “Por Mais Beijos (Ao Vivo)”, by Zé Neto and Cristiano, “10 Anos na Praia”, by Matheus and Kauan, and “Future Nostalgia”, by Dua Lipa.
In Deezer, the singer is also a repeat. She had already led the 2019 charts and, once again, topped the platform’s ranking. In this platform, she comes ahead of Henrique and Juliano (2nd), Gusttavo Lima (3rd), Zé Neto and Cristiano (4th), Os Barões da Pisadinha (5th), Anitta (6th), Jorge and Mateus (7th), Wesley Safadão (8th), Matheus and Kauan (9th) and Dilsinho (10th).
The hit “Graveto” is also ranked third among the most played songs, but behind “Liberdade Provirória”, by Henrique and Juliano, and “Dance Monkey”, by the Australian singer Tones and I, which went viral worldwide.
“Todos os Cantos, Vol. 1 (Ao Vivo)” was the second album with more plays on the platform, behind only “O Embaixador in Cariri (Ao Vivo)”, by Gusttavo Lima. “Por Mais Beijos (Live)”, by Zé Neto and Cristiano, completes the top 3.

Among the hundred most listened-to tracks in 2020 on Deezer, 94% of the ranking is composed of Brazilian music. Over 50% of them are of the country genre, followed by funk (12%), pop (7%), forró (7%), and others.
On YouTube, the country singer also holds dominance. On the video platform, the “Graveto” clip ranks first in the Brazilian list of songs on the rise. The video has had no fewer than 233 million plays.
It is followed by “Volta Por Baixo”, by Henrique and Juliano, “Oh Juliana”, by MC Niack, “Basta Você Me Ligar”, by the Barões da Pisadinha and Xand Avião, “Recairei”, by the Barões da Pisadinha, “Te Prometo”, by Dennis and MC Don Juan, “Poesia Acústica #9 – Melhor Forma”, by L7NNON, Chris, Shaman, Lourena, Cesar Mc, Djonga and Filipe Ret, “Deus É Por Nós”, by MC Marks and Dj Muka, “Ainda Tô Aí”, by Eduardo Costa, and “Braba”, by Luísa Sonza.
In 2019, Marília came second in the ranking with the music video “Todo Mundo Vai Sofrer”. The list was headed by the duo Matheus and Kauan with the video of “Vou Ter Que Superar (Ao Vivo)”, a partnership with the country singer.
It is worth noting that, at the moment, Marília’s music has fewer views only than five clips from the American ranking of songs on the rise, also released by YouTube: “Life Is Good” by Future and Drake, with over 1.3 billion views, and “Gooba” by 6ix9ine, with 639 million, “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, with 298 million views, “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, with 264 million, and “Rockstar” by DaBaby and Roddy Ricch.
