Irani Paper’s Q3 Profit Drops 41.8% Despite Revenue Growth

Irani Paper, a key player in Brazil’s paper and packaging industry, faced a significant setback in its third-quarter 2024 performance.

The company’s net profit dropped by 41.8% to R$37.6 million ($6.71 million), despite a 4.5% revenue increase to R$426.3 million ($76.13 million).

The company’s EBITDA fell by 12.4% compared to 2023, reaching R$135.8 million ($24.25 million). Adjusted EBITDA showed a smaller 6% decrease, totaling R$125.2 million ($22.36 million).

Iran’s financial results reflect market pressures and strategic investments. The negative financial result of R$20.8 million ($3.71 million) represented a 19.8% improvement due to lower interest rates and better liability management.

Revenue growth was driven by increased corrugated cardboard sales, which rose 6.1% in volume. Paper sales also increased slightly by 1.1%.

However, these gains were offset by decreased cardboard prices, lower biological asset value variation, and increased depreciation costs from investments in the Gaia Platform.

The company’s cash position decreased 4.6% to R$586 million ($104.64 million), with R$112.2 million ($20.04 million) spent on investments and dividends.

Net debt rose 2.1% to R$1.06 billion ($189.29 million), increasing the leverage ratio from 2.10 to 2.26. These figures highlight Iran‘s challenge in balancing growth investments with financial stability.

The company invested R$45.416 million ($8.11 million) in modernization projects in the previous quarter, demonstrating its commitment to long-term competitiveness.
