Japan leads with the highest crypto tax rates, starting at 15% and escalating to 55% for gains over 200,000 Japanese yen (about $1,520). Denmark follows with a progressive tax from 37% to 52.06%.

Germany can tax up to 50.5%, but offers exemptions for gains below 1,000 euros (approximately $1,200) or for long-term holdings. Conversely, nations like El Salvador and Singapore do not tax digital assets at all.

El Salvador, the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, recently reversed this policy due to negotiations with the IMF. In Switzerland, individual investors are also tax-exempt on digital assets.

In Brazil, crypto profits exceeding $7,000 monthly are taxed progressively from 15% to 22.5%. However, for transactions on foreign platforms, a flat 15% tax applies to all gains, reflecting a different approach to international investments set in 2023.

South American taxation varies, with Chile taxing up to 40% and Peru up to 30%, while Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina apply a 15% rate. Colombia imposes a 10% tax, showing regional disparities in fiscal policy toward cryptocurrencies.
