Chinese spokesman tweets U.S. and not Al-Qaeda staged the 9/11 attacks in 2001

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lijian Zhao tweeted on Aug. 16, 2022, that the United States (not al-Qaeda) staged the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Until now, Chinese officials have privately expressed skepticism about the official version of the 9/11 attacks. They have now taken a step forward.

Only Sheikh Zayed, Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Fidel Castro, and Donald Trump had allowed themselves to raise the issue publicly.

Americans and much of the world watched in disbelief and horror on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, as the World Trade Center collapsed, the Pentagon burned, and a field in Pennsylvania smoldered.

The most significant terrorist attack on U.S. soil in history displayed that some of the most potent symbols of American power were vulnerable to hate imported into the country from an area of the world that most Americans couldn’t point out on a map.

But for some, the idea that 19 people could harbor so much hate that they voluntarily hijacked four jetliners and used them as missiles against innocent people was too likely a story to believe.

More than two decades later, those skeptics who developed conspiracy theories are still alive and well.
