São Paulo government will hire 15,000 teachers

The Government of São Paulo has published a call for tender to hire 15,000 new teachers.

The confirmation of the opening of vacancies occurred on Thursday, 11.

The initial salaries are R$3,100 for the teacher who works 25 hours per week and R$5,000 for those who will work 40 hours per week.

Registration for the contest begins next Monday, 15, and will be open until June 12.

Candidates must register on the site of the Paulista State University Vestibular.

The objective and discursive tests will be held on August 6.

There will also be a technical test in video lesson format and titles for classification.

The candidate can choose up to two disciplines to work on, as long as they are at different times.

São Paulo went nine years without holding any contests for primary education.

The current contest was authorized in 2022, during João Doria‘s administration, but the public notice was launched only now by governor Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas.

The State of São Paulo has about 3.,500 state schools and has not held a competitive examination for basic education for nine years, said Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.

During this period, new teachers entered the schools only with temporary contracts and could only stay in their positions for up to two years.

Today, 44.6% of the teachers in the state network are temporary: 99,700 out of 216,800.
