RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Famous Brazilian singer and guitarist Lulu Santos was on Brazilian Globo TV this weekend, introducing his new album, “Pra Você”, which he wrote in honor of his partner, Clebson Teixeira.

The singer confessed that he felt a little “ridiculous” when he found himself completely in love with a much younger man at the age of 66.

“This whole album, all the songs were composed from May of last year to March of this year. It’s the step by step of passion. When I find myself in love again after a 46-year career, I feel a little ridiculous, but I fell in love. And this person is Clebson Teixeira; we signed a stable union contract, which directs us to marriage,” he said.

TV anchor Fausto Silva further asked the singer about the behavior of his audience when he decided to make his sexuality public by assuming his romance with the 26-year-old systems analyst–they had been together since April 2018.

“I was very happy, but I rely greatly on people’s discernment. There is much more love and understanding than you’d think. It was not surprising, but it was wonderful to feel the affection,” he stated.

“Now there is criminalization of homophobia, and you can be prosecuted or punished if you behave that way because it is a civil right. I’m saying this, but what I truly experience is love, affection, and understanding,” he added.

Lulu Santos sang some of his hits on Domingão show, opening the night with his hit “Toda Forma de Amor”, released in 1989.

Attention was drawn to the adjustment to the lyrics made by the singer, who replaced the phrases “I am your man / You are my wife” with “I am a man / And which are you?”.

“We got there, didn’t we? It was a fight fought with love. I have this theory that no matter how much things are moving backward, whether oppressive or conservative, you see that the progressive approach has historically always won in the end,” he said.

The TV anchor also sought to argue with Lulu Santos by quoting conservative leaders such as Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro, but he preferred not to enter into that discussion. “Better ask all these people, to see if we want this path.”
