Paraguay and United Arab Emirates discuss trade cooperation alternatives

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Vice President of Paraguay, Hugo Velázquez, was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who showed interest in Paraguayan grain and meat production.

Velázquez took the opportunity to present Paraguay’s potential as a food producer and its attractiveness for investment and the main infrastructure projects.

Likewise, the Secretary of State emphasized the connectivity projects being carried out, such as the Bioceanic Corridor. He pointed out the intention to move towards constructing a strategic alliance between both countries.

Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan commented that, within the framework of the Abraham Agreements, cooperation with Paraguay in the field of technology related to food production could be explored.

The emirate’s representative also highlighted his country’s desire to forge new alliances and identified food security, renewable energies, infrastructure, and technological cooperation as the main sectors to be promoted in bilateral relations. He expressed particular interest in Paraguay’s grain and meat production as regards food.

It is worth mentioning that Hugo Velázquez was invited for a regional tour in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel, in the context of the commemoration of the Abraham Accords that have allowed the normalization of relations and the establishment of peace between Israel and the aforementioned Arab countries.
