How much is Americanas retailer’s debt

The receivers of Lojas Americanas informed the court that the company’s total debt is approximately R$50 billion (US$9.84 billion), almost R$7 billion (US$1.38 billion) higher than the amount previously reported by the retailer.

The most recent figure for Americanas’ debt is in the first statement of accounts filed on Wednesday in the Fourth Business Court of Rio de Janeiro.

Preserva-Ação Administração Judicial and Escritório de Advocacia Zveiter are responsible for managing Americanas’ judicial reorganization.

Questioned about the discrepancy in values, Americanas informed that the difference comes from the total value of the debentures in which the company is a debtor of JSM Global and B2W Digital Lux, which are also part of the retailer and are under judicial reorganization.

The judicial administration team has asked the court to provide a complete list of debt-related processes involving the Americanas group, both in the civil and labor spheres.

Grupo Americanas must present the judicial reorganization plan within 60 days. The process involves over 50 law firms as creditors, with debts exceeding R$21 million.

The company’s judicial administrators have sent letters to Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Accounting Council, and other entities to schedule meetings to present Americanas’ situation.
