Rio is chosen for Carolina Herrera’s first show outside the US

The designer brand Carolina Herrera will hold the first of its presentations in global destinations in Brazil, where the Resort 2024 collection will be unveiled, announced creative director Wes Gordon on Tuesday (7).

This is the first time the brand will leave New York for its shows.

The Rio de Janeiro debut already has a date of June 1, 2023.

“I’m thrilled,” Gordon commented on the choice of Rio.

He said he was inspired by the city’s “lively color palette,” the “unique blend of its universally beloved music,” and Oscar Niemeyer‘s “breathtaking modernist architecture.”

The designer also highlighted the links between the Brazilian identity and that of the brand, created by Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera.

“Rio has a vibrant heritage, diversity, and mix of cultural origins. We are a house with Latin origins at heart, and this collection is our chance to explore that DNA from a different geographical and cultural point of view out of deep respect and admiration.”

“I look forward to collaborating with the local teams to create this exceptional experience.”

The designer has not yet detailed how or in what capacity she will work with the “Cariocas” to develop the show, which also has no location yet.

However, it is scheduled for sunset and will be just one of the activities in the brand’s calendar in Brazil.

A party is also planned to celebrate the global launch of the new Good Girl Blush perfume.

The brand also partnered with Spectaculu, a non-profit organization founded in Rio that offers professional training in creative industries for underprivileged young people.

The Resort 2024 show marks the designer’s return to the country.

The last time the designer Carolina Herrera was in Brazil was in 2019, accompanied by her daughter and the house’s creative director of beauty, Carolina A. Herrera, for the launch of the fragrance Good Girl Dot Drama in São Paulo.

Carolina Herrera always presents its regular collections, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, at New York Fashion Week.

However, brands usually choose sunny destinations to show their resort collections, with beachwear features or high summer elements, such as the yacht aesthetic.
