Lula da Silva decides to return with federal tax on fuel, gasoline will cost R$ 0.69 more per liter

The return of federal taxes on fuels should raise the price for consumers, according to a survey by the Brazilian Center of Infrastructure (CBIE).

Yesterday (Dec. 27), the future Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said the measure that exempts the payment of PIS and Cofins on fuels should not be extended.

According to Haddad, the decision is of the president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT, progressive-globalist).

The exemption was established by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL, conservative) at the beginning of the year to lower prices impacted by the war in Ukraine.
