This represents a 23 percent increase compared to the year before the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the normal operation of institutions such as the Directorate General of Migration, responsible for repatriations, due to government restrictions.

The months with the highest number of deportations this year are June with 9,176, followed by July with 9,170, March with 8,466, and May with 8,407.

Regarding the number of deportations, the remaining months are February with 7,940, April with 7,447, and January with 7,158.

Haitian deportations accounted for 99.93 percent of the 57,807 deportations carried out from January to July this year.

It should be taken into account that Haitians represent the largest migrant population in the Dominican Republic, accounting for about 87 percent of immigrants in 20217.
