Cape Verde sees 52.6% rise in tourists in Q1 2023

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has reported a 52.6% increase in the number of guests at Cape Verdean hotels in the first quarter of 2023, totaling 216,000 visitors.

The figure represents a 7.5% decrease compared to the pre-pandemic first quarter of 2019.

However, the total overnight stays for the quarter were 1,302,979, an increase of 54.3% compared to the same period in 2022.

Sal Island remained the most popular destination, accounting for 54.1% of arrivals and 57.4% of overnight stays.

The UK was the leading source of tourists, with 25% of all arrivals.
