In 2018, Brazil exported US$535 million (US$134 million) in live cattle to all continents. Another US$6.5 billion in beef was exported.

According to a joint note from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the export of live animals is an alternative for rural producers throughout the country. “Brazil’s progress in the live cattle market is evidence of the country’s high-quality and high genetic standards and recognition of international confidence in Brazil’s agribusiness defense,” the statement said.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina, traveled to China and Japan this year and part of the international meeting agenda was to expand Brazilian exports of live cattle.

Yesterday the minister and a delegation of businessmen boarded to the Middle East, where they will visit four countries in an attempt to open the markets for other Brazilian products. The committee returns to Brazil on September 23rd.
