Brazil Gains Approval to Export Live Pigs to Eurasian Union

Brazil, known for its leadership in meat production, has obtained approval to export live pigs to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The trading bloc, consisting of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, represents Brazil’s second significant market expansion in a year.

In September 2023, Brazil received similar approval to export live cattle.

The Brazilian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture enthusiastically expressed satisfaction over this approval.

The decision aligns perfectly with Brazil’s objectives of strengthening its global agricultural market presence.

Moreover, the Brazilian government continues to prioritize enhancing its international agricultural footprint.

In 2023, Brazil exported over $1.2 billion in agricultural goods to the EAEU. This included soybeans, beef, green coffee, and raw sugar.

Furthermore, adding live pigs to the export portfolio diversifies Brazil’s exports and opens up a significant new revenue stream.

This new opportunity marks the 39th market opening for Brazilian agriculture this year alone.

Furthermore, it contributes to 117 market expansions across 50 nations since President Lula da Silva took office.

Brazil’s consistent market growth underscores its strategic efforts to diversify agricultural exports.

The government remains committed to economic growth through agribusiness.

By securing new global markets, Brazil enhances its reputation as a leading global supplier of agricultural commodities.

Additionally, expanding to the EAEU consolidates its position as a major global player in agriculture while boosting the national economy.
