Ukraine is teeming with CIA spies and commandos, is it a proxy war after all?

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A new report in the New York Times makes it clear that U.S. involvement in Ukraine is much greater than Washington has been willing to admit. The CIA and commandos from the U.S. and its allies have been there for a long time.

The New York Times reports that Ukraine is teeming with special forces and spies from the U.S. and its allies, which seems to contradict earlier reports that the U.S. intelligence cartel is having difficulty obtaining information about what is going on in Ukraine. This would also refute claims that this is not a U.S. proxy war.

In an article entitled “Commando Network Coordinates Flow of Weapons in Ukraine, Officials Say,” anonymous Western government officials tell us the following via the New York Times:

As Russian troops continue a grueling campaign to conquer eastern Ukraine, the country’s ability to withstand the onslaught depends more than ever on help from the United States and its allies – including a clandestine network of commandos and spies who hastily provide weapons, intelligence, and training, U.S. and European officials said. Much of this work takes place outside Ukraine, for example, at bases in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. But even though the Biden administration has stated that it will not station U.S. troops in Ukraine, some CIA operatives continue to operate covertly in the country, particularly in the capital, Kyiv, and direct much of the massive amounts of intelligence that the United States shares with Ukrainian forces, current and former officials said.

At the same time, “a few dozen commandos from other NATO countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and Lithuania” were also active in Ukraine, the newspaper added.

Assuming that “a few dozen” is an understatement to obscure the true extent of Western involvement, it is perhaps fair to speak of a few hundred members of Western special forces active in Ukraine.

According to the U.S. and other Western officials, the special forces stationed on Ukrainian territory are not on the front lines with Ukrainian troops but operate from headquarters in other parts of the country or remotely via encrypted communications.

According to three U.S. officials, this network of special agents coordinates routes for transporting Western armaments from Ukrainian borders to military units and training and briefing Ukrainian troops.

These teams also coordinate with NATO headquarters in Europe, including Germany, Poland, and France. According to officials, for example, the coordination center at Ramstein military base in Germany was responsible for escorting and supporting the Ukrainian air force.

In addition, these groups help to find out information about the location of weapons depots in the rear of the enemy troops of the Russian Federation so that the Ukrainians can carry out targeted attacks on them. In particular, it involves the conduct of MLRS HIMARS, which has already arrived on the front lines.

It was clear that much of Biden's $40b war package for Ukraine was going to CIA without much idea what it was for.

The revelation that the CIA and U.S. Special Forces are conducting military operations in Ukraine belies the Biden administration’s claim at the beginning of the war that there would be no American boots on the ground in Ukraine.

This news, however, should not surprise anyone who knows anything about the usual behavior of the U.S. intelligence cartel. Still, interestingly, it contradicts a statement made to us by the same New York Times not three weeks ago.

They've been running ops there since the late 1940s. It's not exactly breaking news.

“U.S. intelligence agencies have less information about operations in Ukraine than they would like and have a far better picture of Russia’s military, its planned operations, and its successes and failures,” the NYT shared earlier this month.
