Soybean is expected to account for 30% of the Gross Value of Brazilian agribusiness production
By Anderson Scardoelli
Soybeans should account for 30% of the Brazilian Gross Value of Production (GVP) of agriculture and cattle ranching in 2023.
According to estimates released on Monday (15) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cattle Raising (Mapa), the oily plant alone should be responsible for moving R$368.8 billion by the end of the year.
The federal government’s projection converges with the survey released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) last week.

Estimating a record harvest of grains in the country, the IBGE pointed out that soybean production should grow 24.7% in 2023 compared to the previous year’s data.
Thus, a harvest of 149.1 million tonnes is estimated.
The United States Department of Agriculture mentioned the potential growth of soybean production in Brazilian soil.
In a report presented last week, the North American agency revealed that the advance of soybean boosts the national agribusiness, with the growth of derivatives with higher added value: in this case, the bran and oil.
In percentage of GVA, corn appears as the second main item in Brazilian agriculture and cattle-raising in 2023.
This is because grain is expected to account for 12.8% of the sector’s value.
The estimate is that corn will move around R$156.2 billion this year.
In the animal protein part, the highlight is beef, with an indication of R$140.6 billion according to the most recent projection from MAPA.
