Saturday June 6 opens at 22°C and 10% rain in São Paulo — mild, clear and the finest outdoor day of the feriadão. The Pinacoteca is free today across all three buildings: Pina Luz, Pina Estação and Pina Contemporânea, 10 am–6 pm, no ticket.

Brazil x Egypt tonight at 7 pm BRT at Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland — the last warmup before the World Cup. Live on Globo, SporTV and GE TV; every bar with a TV in São Paulo will carry it.

Brazil’s Group C schedule confirmed by FIFA: Morocco June 13 (MetLife Stadium, NJ, 7 pm BRT) · Haiti June 19 (Philadelphia, 9:30 pm BRT) · Scotland June 24 (Miami, 7 pm BRT).

Tomorrow Sunday: São Paulo Pride Parade on Av. Paulista from ~1 pm — 23°C / 5% rain, Metrô amplified, Domingão Tarifa Zero, Ciclofaixa. Monday: B3 and banks reopen; Paulista corridor Monday closure.

This is part of The Rio Times’ daily São Paulo/Rio de Janeiro daily guide coverage for expats and the international community.

03What to See & DoCULTURE

TODAY’S PICK — PINACOTECA — LUZ

Pinacoteca free Saturday — Tayou’s Nocaute, all three buildings, no ticket

Saturday is the Pinacoteca’s weekly free day — Pina Luz, Pina Estação and Pina Contemporânea all open 10 am–6 pm with no ticket required, the single most generous free cultural offer in São Paulo on any given weekend. On a 22°C morning at 10% rain it is one of the best cultural Saturdays São Paulo offers: the free museum, the Luz neighbourhood, the Mercado Municipal nearby, all accessible without a queue before 11 am.

At Pina Luz, Pascale Marthine Tayou’s Nocaute fills seven galleries in the 1900 Ramos de Azevedo building — the Cameroonian-Belgian artist’s first Brazil institutional solo, weaving sculpture, large-format installation and found materials through questions of migration, hybridity and African modernism in the building Paulo Mendes da Rocha reformed in 1998. The Saturday free-day crowd is larger than a Wednesday morning but the building is wide enough to absorb it; the ground-floor café is the natural shelter if a shower passes through the 10% window.

The Ramos de Azevedo building is one of the most significant adaptive reuse projects in recent São Paulo history — Paulo Mendes da Rocha’s 1998 intervention added a ramp system connecting the floors that gives the building its distinctive internal logic, and the three shows running across Pina Luz, Pina Estação and Pina Contemporânea today reward a full two-hour visit. Pinacoteca · free Saturdays (R$15/R$7.50 meia other days) · Sat 10 am–6 pm · Praça da Luz 2, Luz.

COFFEE & WHERE TO WORK

For the remote workers: specialty coffee and a desk in the city that runs on it

São Paulo has Brazil’s deepest specialty-coffee scene, clustered in Vila Madalena, Pinheiros and the Faria Lima corridor. Coffee Lab on R. Fradique Coutinho roasts in-house and is built for laptops, with Santo Grão nearby and Suplicy Cafés Especiais and Octavio Café the reliable work-cafés across Jardins and Faria Lima.

For a full desk, the Faria Lima corridor is the startup heart of Latin America. WeWork has several towers along the avenue, Spaces sits in Vila Madalena–Pinheiros, and Cubo Itaú in Vila Olímpia is the community hub — most take day passes, so book ahead on a weekend.

THE CONTRASTING PLAY — PARQUE IBIRAPUERA — IBIRAPUERA

Ibirapuera at 22°C — the outdoor São Paulo morning before the city pivots to football

Parque Ibirapuera at 22°C and 10% rain is at its mid-winter best — cool enough to walk the lake circuit at pace, mild enough for the outdoor café tables, with the 1954 Oscar Niemeyer ensemble (Auditório, Pavilhão Bienal, Oca and the covered walkway) at its most comfortable in the cooler air of early June. Saturday mornings in early June are the park’s most pleasant: the summer heat is gone, the school-week families haven’t arrived yet, and the whole 1.5km lake circuit is walkable in under an hour.

The MAC USP inside the park is open Saturdays (Tue–Sun). Today is the better Ibirapuera day than Sunday — the Pride Parade tomorrow will bring millions of people into the Paulista corridor directly adjacent, and the park will absorb overflow crowds.

Parque Ibirapuera · free · daily 5 am–midnight · Av. Pedro Álvares Cabral.

BRAZIL x EGYPT — TODAY, 19H BRT, CLEVELAND

The last warmup — Ancelotti deploys the full squad before Morocco on June 13

Brazil face Egypt at Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland, today at 7 pm BRT — live on Globo, SporTV and GE TV. This is the final match before the World Cup opens Thursday June 11 in Mexico City (Mexico vs South Africa, Azteca, 4 pm BRT).

Egypt play in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran and New Zealand, led by captain Mohamed Salah in the first Brazil-Egypt fixture in 15 years.

Ancelotti is expected to deploy Marquinhos, Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhães — rested for Panama — alongside the 6–2 starters; Neymar remains absent with his grade 2 calf injury. Brazil’s Group C schedule confirmed by FIFA: Morocco June 13 (MetLife Stadium, NJ, 7 pm BRT) · Haiti June 19 (Philadelphia, 9:30 pm BRT) · Scotland June 24 (Miami, 7 pm BRT).

09Business & MarketsFINANCE

B3 does not trade today. The Ibovespa enters the weekend at 170,330.63 points — the last live close from Wednesday June 3’s 2.22% fall — with the YTD at 5.71% and month-to-date at -1.99%.

Markets reopen Monday June 8 after the four-day Corpus Christi pause.

Two structural pressures carry into the Monday open: the US tariff proposal on Brazilian imports (USTR cited trade barriers in e-commerce, digital payments, ethanol and deforestation; Brasília characterised it as a political move amid ongoing negotiations) and the US-Iran escalation that pushed oil above $110 and the real to R$5.0661. The two pressures created Wednesday’s 2.22% sell-off and both remain active.

The Selic holds at 14.75%; the Copom on June 17–18 is the month’s key rate event. The World Cup opening on June 11 historically compresses short-term domestic market volatility — a brief window before Copom brings the rate decision the following week.
