Mozambique’s 8th Energy Summit Opens

Carlos Zacarias, the Energy Minister, opened the 8th Mozambique Energy and Gas Summit this week.

He called it a stage for “finding new opportunities.” The event gathers a mix of stakeholders, from government to business leaders.

Its theme is building a sustainable energy network in Mozambique.

“Let’s share ideas for a stable system that boosts our economy,” said Zacarias in his opening speech.

Zacarias highlighted the Coral Sul Project in the Rovuma Basin. “This project will make Mozambique a major LNG supplier by 2024,” he stated.

He also touched on the clean aspect of Mozambique’s energy. “Last year, our total capacity was 3,026 megawatts,” Zacarias noted. “Over 72% came from hydro sources.”
