Google Adds Image Creation to Its Search Feature

Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) now allows users to generate images by typing specific prompts.

These images show up directly in the SGE interface. Users can download them as .png files or adjust them with new prompts.

In terms of ethics, Google sets age limits for users under 18. Strict filters also prevent harmful or explicit content.

These steps aim to make the tool safer. They come after reports of misuse in other AI-driven image tools.

Additionally, Google allows user feedback through an opt-in system in Google Search Labs. This feature helps identify any problems or misuse.

Google also included text-assistance in SGE. This move showcases Google’s commitment to serving user needs effectively.

Starting tomorrow, a select group can access these new features. A wider release is planned in the coming weeks.

However, these updates are currently only for opt-in users in the U.S. and only in English.

Background Google Adds Image Creation to Its Search Feature

Google’s update reflects its push for more interactive user features. The use of AI in image creation is a growing trend.

Ethical considerations, like age restrictions and filters, indicate societal concerns about AI.

Google’s cautious approach allows for user feedback, possibly learning from misuse in other AI tools.

The text-assistance feature aims to make the tool more useful for users.

Finally, limited initial access suggests that Google plans to refine these features based on user feedback before a broader launch.
