The cities of Vitória and Vila Velha in Espírito Santo have seen the highest growth in searches as tourist destinations for vacations scheduled for July and August 2023.
The study by international reservations and accommodations site Booking.com highlights the burgeoning interest in Espírito Santo’s tourism scene.
According to the regional manager of the platform, Nelson Benavides, some destinations frequently appear in the most popular rankings due to their renowned status, excellent infrastructure, or attractions.
“However, some destinations are gaining increasing interest from domestic tourists, even though they aren’t typically on these lists,” he notes.
Espírito Santo leads this trend, with Vitória and Vila Velha as the top two emerging cities for tourists this year.
Of the top ten trending destinations for the mid-year period, the Southeast Region holds seven spots. Espírito Santo claims the top two positions with Vitória and Vila Velha.
“Looking at the list of trending destinations, we also notice places in São Paulo’s and Rio de Janeiro’s interior, as well as capitals of Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Sul, and Maranhão, given the optimal time to visit Lençóis Maranhenses,” adds Nelson Benavides.
The survey illustrates the cities with the greatest growth in searches over the last year, not necessarily the most desired destinations for July vacations.

- Itaipava, Rio de Janeiro: 150% increase
- São Luís do Maranhão, Maranhão: 117% increase
- Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo: 114% increase
- Abraão, Rio de Janeiro: 104% increase
- Barreirinhas, Maranhão: 90% increase
- Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul: 83% increase
