Road accident in northern Brazil leaves at least 12 people dead

At least 12 people died yesterday, Friday, and four others were injured after a traffic accident between a truck and a passenger bus in the Brazilian state of Pará (north), firefighters reported.

The events occurred around 07:30 local time on highway PA-150, between the Marabá and Nova Ipixuna municipalities in the southeast of Pará, when the two vehicles collided head-on for unknown reasons.

According to the firefighters, it was raining at the time of the accident, and the road was wet.

The 12 dead were on the bus covering the route between Marabá and Tucuruí.
