Pedro Rodrigues Filho was considered the biggest serial killer in Brazil’s history.
According to official data, ‘Pedrinho Matador’ was killed on Sunday (5th) in the greater São Paulo area.
Rodrigues Filho, who said he was responsible for more than 100 murders, served a 42-year prison sentence, was released in 2018, and became a successful Youtuber.
The crime occurred in the Ponte Grande neighborhood in the municipality of Mogi das Cruzes, on the outskirts of the capital São Paulo, where ‘Pedrinho Matador’ was shot in front of his sister’s house.
According to police, several hooded men exited a car and shot him at close range.
The 69-year-old Rodrigues Filho was accused of killing at least 71 people – including drug dealers, rapists, pedophiles, and thieves – although he had confessed to killing more than 100 people (more than half while in prison).
In interviews with local media in recent years, the killer said he killed for “pleasure and revenge” against people with criminal pasts, which he considered a “good deed for society.”
Born on October 29, 1954, in poor circumstances, he was never able to study and was involved in robberies in central São Paulo from the age of ten, allegedly killing his first victims at the age of eleven.
In 2003, he was almost released, but his request was rejected due to his murders in prison.
In 2007, he was released for the first time but was arrested again in 2011.
With a sentence of 128 years under his belt, it seemed he would never return to the streets, but Brazil repealed a law that said diagnosed psychopaths could be imprisoned indefinitely – and so he was released in 2018 after 42 years in prison.
After his release from prison, he became a well-known “Youtuber” – with around 200,000 followers – published a book and made a documentary film.
