Significant surge in tourist visits to Paraguay

Paraguay reported 416,576 visitors in the first half of the current year, denoting a surge of 102% compared to the same time frame in 2022, as confirmed by the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur).

The report indicates that this remarkable increase is a continuation of the positive trajectory seen in 2022, further strengthening Paraguay’s tourism industry’s recovery after the hardships brought by the global pandemic.

Data provided by Senatur, extracted from the National Directorate of Migration, reveals that Paraguay hosted 205,898 visitors between January and June of the previous year.

In contrast, 15% utilized river routes and 11% came by air. Visitor numbers peaked in January, with 105,609 arrivals, while June saw the least traffic, with 54,403 entries.

In their official statement, Senatur emphasized the growing importance of tourism in Paraguay’s developmental strategy and global reputation.
