In the first half of 2023, Paraguay reported an increase in corn exports, according to the Cámara Paraguaya de Comercializadores y Exportadores de Cereales y Oleaginosas (Capeco).
Corn exports reached 557,130 tons, marking a 24.8% rise compared to the same period in the previous year, when 446,274 tons were exported.
This surge brought an additional US$19 million in revenue, reflecting a 16.3% increase and contributing to the local economy.
Central Bank of Paraguay data shows total earnings from corn exports as of June 2023 stood at US$135 million, up from US$116 million in the same period in 2022.
The major destinations for Paraguay’s 2023 corn exports were Brazil, claiming 76% of the total, and Uruguay with 24%.
