Paraguay plants 200,000 new trees to boost its forests
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – If we ever look at the history of how life began on Earth, we will probably find forests at some point. Thanks to the plant life that is created in them, animals are present, as well as insects and other types of beings.
Before our eyes they may only be extraordinary landscapes or places that provide calm, but in their roots lies the key to what we now recognize as life.

From an ancient worldview, the forests and other ecosystems of the Earth offer valuable resources for human and animal life to continue developing, because without their presence we could not exist.

For that simple reason, many communities around the world work to maintain the balance of nature. In the first instance are the indigenous communities, leaders of environmental conservation and guardians of the planet’s valuable resources. But it’s not just them, there are also other environmental actors in the world.
In Paraguay, for example, a community of 150 families joined organizations to promote the “Forest, Community and Life” project. The plan consists of recovering the native forests of eastern Paraguay through the planting of native species. But it will not only be planting trees, it is also about implementing new and better agricultural practices to ensure a better management of resources.

Since 2021 the project has grown enough to claim that they now have 200,000 new trees. This is hardly a year’s progress and an even better future is predicted. Meanwhile, native forests grow gradually, while being well preserved and enriched.
It is not just about planting trees for the sake of planting them, rather it is discovering how the network of nature works to create life alongside it. Planting a tree by itself can be a good act, but useless if you don’t know the environment that surrounds it.

Reforestation projects require much more than just the desire to plant a tree, it is about being in tune with nature, with its resources, its use times and its rest spaces. Once we can fully understand that network, our connection to the planet changes, and for the better.
