Seven dead and 15 injured by explosion of illegal fireworks workshop in central Mexico

At least seven dead and 15 injured are the result of the explosion of an illegal pyrotechnics workshop in the central state of Morelos, Mexico.

According to a report from the State Civil Protection Coordination of the state, the detonation originated inside a house in the municipality of Totolapan, where fireworks were manufactured and stored.

According to the source, three wounded were taken to hospitals, and the rest were treated at the scene.

He added that search and rescue efforts continue in the area, so the number of injured and dead could increase in the following hours.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, regretted the loss of human lives and sent his condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

Such accidents are frequent in municipalities of central Mexico where pyrotechnics are worked to be used in different fairs and celebrations throughout the country.
