An armed clash between suspected rival groups in the town of Guachochi, located in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, has resulted in the death of eight individuals, according to official sources on Wednesday.
The Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) stated that the incident occurred on the Piedra Agujerada and Municipal Landfill Road within the state.
Two burnt pickup trucks were discovered at the scene, and one injured individual was promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention.
Authorities from Forensic Services, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Forensic Medical Service conducted necessary procedures to identify the victims.
In response to the incident, a tactical operation has been initiated to restore security and peace in the affected area.
Media reports suggest that such clashes are common in Chihuahua, a region known for marijuana and heroin production, as drug cartels and factions vie for control over territory.
