Uruguayan Air Force expresses interest in Argentine IA-100 training system

The Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) has officially expressed interest in evaluating and potentially acquiring Fadea’s IA-100 training system.

General Luis H. De León, the FAU commander-in-chief, and Franco Giuggioloni, the vice president and general manager of Fadea, the Argentine company, signed a declaration of interest.

Mirta Iriondo, president of Fadea, highlighted the export potential of the IA-100 and stated that various air forces had shown great interest in the training system.

She emphasized its flight qualities, advanced systems, robust structure, and certification in the FAR-23 aerobatic category, contributing to its excellent cost-benefit ratio.

In April, Fadea signed a similar declaration with the Paraguayan Air Force (FAP), further demonstrating the appeal of the IA-100 in the region.

Mirta Iriondo emphasized that the IA-100 is an ideal solution for pilot training in neighboring countries, offering advanced technology and comprehensive after-sales service.

Carlos de la Vega, the head of Business Development and Government Relations at Fadea, highlighted the aircraft’s suitability for export, particularly to Latin American, African, and Southeast Asian countries. T

he IA-100 aims to meet the needs of air forces requiring reliable, cost-effective, and easy-to-operate aircraft for pilot training.

The IA-100 is a composite material training aircraft designed for elementary military training.

It features a three-seat cockpit with digital avionics, day and night flight capabilities, and robust retractable landing gear.

With a maximum speed of 155 KTAS, altitude of 18,000 feet, and range of four and a half hours, the IA-100 offers modern training capabilities.

The estimated cost per hour of flight is approximately US$185.

Fadea plans to offer the IA-100 as part of a comprehensive system, including efficient maintenance and training systems, ensuring operational support throughout its lifecycle.

Argentina has invested approximately US$14.3 million in developing and serial producing the IA-100B Malvina aircraft for the Argentine Air Force. The prototype is still under production.
