Norway and Brazil seek expanded partnership on hunger and climate efforts

Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Store, expressed the country’s desire to strengthen its collaboration with Brazil in addressing issues related to hunger and the climate agenda.

During a phone call with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Store discussed areas of potential cooperation, including food security, hunger eradication, sustainable ocean use, and climate initiatives.

President Lula emphasized the importance of global cooperation and environmental protection, highlighting Brazil’s development plans for the Amazon biodiversity.

He emphasized the goal of improving the lives of people in the region and promoting investments in renewable energies, which will contribute to a cleaner Brazilian energy sector.

Brazil intends to present these proposals during the upcoming COP30 Climate Summit in 2025, to be hosted in Belém, a city situated near the mouth of the Amazon River and the Atlantic Ocean.

The summit will provide a platform for discussing climate change and fostering international collaboration on environmental issues.
