Lula talks to Putin and declines the invitation to St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

Once again demonstrating his closeness to the Russian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) spoke with Vladimir Putin on Friday (16).
He reiterated his willingness to mediate, along with India, Indonesia, and China, a conciliation between the countries involved in the war in Ukraine but declined Putin’s invitation to participate in the International Economic Forum of St. Petersburg.
“The presidents discussed various current aspects of the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership, and expressed mutual interest in its progressive development and deepening of practical cooperation in various fields.’
“The conversation was constructive and informative,” the Kremlin said in an official statement.

EMBARRASSMENT AT THE G7
Despite making several statements claiming to know the best way to peace in the Ukrainian war and proclaiming himself the “mediator” of the conflict solution, Lula led a complicated situation during the G7, by ignoring the presence of Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and even blaming him for the disagreement.
